Cause Description:
I am Sara Corrieri, a sophmore in High School and I play the viola. I have been playing viola since the third grade, but I started learning recorder when I was five. Music has always been a part of my life, and now it is really flurishing into something amazing. While I am currently unsure of what I will do with my music, I plan to keep music in my life indefinetly. I hope to audition for Juliard when the time comes. I am raising money for my trip to Austrailia, to play at the Sydney Opera house with the Honors Performance Series. I went to New York City last Febuary to play with the Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall. This year the Honors Performance Series is adding the Sydney Opera House to as a new venue and I have been selected to play with them. In order to particiapte in the program I have to buy 2 tickets for a flight to Sydney, Austrailia, have enough money to buy food for 2 weeks, and give the program money so we can stay in the hotel, and have travel protection. There is a payment due each month from November to May for the program. This trip means a lot to me for two main reasons; big events like these help me decide what I want to do and where I want to go with music, and this trip will help better my understanding with music. Music takes a lot of focus in general and the posibilities that it presents can sometimes be overwhelming. There are concert orchestras, symphonies, chamber groups, and solo acts. There are modern, broque, and classical types of music to name but a few. There are several ways of playing an instrument as well, and thanks to my teachers, I know which ways work the best for me to get the best sound out of my instrument. Music is a part of me, and to get the oportunity to play at such a fantastic place is overwhelmingly amazing and I will be so thankful to anyone who will help me make my dream come true.
