Foresight Nanotech Institute is 501(3) not for profit organization based in Palo Alto, CA. Since its inception in 1986, the mission of Foresight is to ensure the beneficial and responsible implementation of nanotechnology- the ability to build materials and products with atomic precision. Foresight supports the development of nanotechnology, which offers promising solutions to the challenges facing humanity including: sustainable development, clean water, renewable energy, balance of population growth and resources, combating infectious disease, treating cancer, and extending human life span. We achieve our mission by providing balanced, accurate and timely information to members of the local community, academics, and professionals in the industry. In 1993, Foresight began awarding prizes for outstanding nanotechnology research and development. The Feynman Prizes, named for Nobel laureate physicist Richard P. Feynman (1918-1988), acknowledge achievement in theory, experimental work and communications, with additional recognition for outstanding student work.
