Cause Description:
SOur Four Point Vision: 1) S.A.F.E. establishes welcoming and affirming meeting spaces called “S.A.F.E. Spots” for youth and young adults. The S.A.F.E. Spot is a meeting place for S.A.F.E. support groups and other special events, as well as a drop-in and resource center for youth and young adults where they receive free food, clothes, books, internet, job resources and many other resources and services from a community of volunteers and advocates. 2) S.A.F.E. establishes 'Safe Houses' with 'House Parents' who are are willing to offer long-term transitional housing to young adults 18 years of age or older who are aging out of the foster care system, are kicked out of their homes or are simply in need. These 'House Parents' may or may not be certified to foster but have all undergone training and are a part of the S.A.F.E. community. 3) S.A.F.E. establishes 'Safe Houses' with foster families who are certified foster parents, or interested in becoming certified foster parents, paid by the state, and are currently fostering or interested in fostering GLBTQ youth and young adults in the foster or extended foster care system. 4) S.A.F.E. aims to assist and educate, support and assist those gay and lesbian couples or individuals interested in fostering, adopting or having a child through surrogacy.
