Cause Description:
The Odyssey is using the internet to take over 1,000,000 students on a round the world field trip! Students use our website to follow along and interact with a Team of adults doing a real world trek, visiting major non-western cultural centers along the way. The Team documents places of cultural significance and the lives of the local people in photos, text, video and audio, which is updated on the website twice a week. Live video and chat events for students have included such prominent figures as the 1992 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Rigoberta Menchu, and the 1987 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Oscar Arias. Over 700 teachers and people from over 70 countries currently (3/99) use the website. We are 100% volunteer, so 100% of your support goes to project support.
