Cause Description:
The National Bible Bee (similar to the Spelling Bee, except that the participants memorize Scripture instead of spelling words) is one way we are helping parents to encourage, recognize, and reward their children's diligence in Bible study, Scripture memorization, and prayer. The Bible Bee is a non-denominational, non-profit, Christian ministry dedicated to promoting Biblical literacy and spiritual growth in children and youth. Our goal is to help families strengthen their personal relationship with the Lord and dynamically impact the world as ambassadors of Jesus Christ. Bible Bee is a nonprofit ministry established in Shelby Kennedy’s name to encourage children and youth to grow in Christ through Scripture memorization. Children from ages 7 – 18 are divided into three age categories. Competition starts at the local level, from which the top 300 contestants nationwide are identified and invited to compete at the national level. Our contestants have committed to memorizing as many as 800 verses this summer, as well as gaining significant Bible knowledge. We desire to honor their diligence and spur them on in future endeavors to grow in their knowledge of the Word. All funds raised will be used specifically for these purposes only: 1) to cover the cost of hosting the event, 2) to help defray the cost of attending the national event for any of our contestants who are invited to compete at that level, and 3) to present awards to our contestants at our Celebration Ceremony in October.
